Our materials
Because materials do matter, we are constantly seeking innovation through recycled or plant-based compounds.
At Ampfibius, our products are produced using only two types of polymer: PLA and PETG.
Recycled PLA
PLA, Polylactic Acid, is the most commonly used material in 3D printing. Its manufacture does not use petroleum resources, instead using raw materials of plant origin, such as corn or sugar. However, at Ampfibius, not content with its origin being more sustainable than conventional plastics, we differentiate ourselves by using recycled PLA.
Through already used PLA waste, the material is recycled and processed again to give it a second life, thus reducing its environmental impact and giving it a new use for your home.
PLA eco-waste
Our most innovative material. Eco-waste PLA is a polymer made from the fusion of recycled PLA with organic waste. In our product catalogue, we have PLA with organic matter from coffee , algae , oyster shells , cork and biomass . To achieve this, these wastes are crushed and microprocessed so that when they fuse with recycled PLA, they give it its characteristic colour and texture.
By adding organic matter, the presence of polylactic acid is drastically reduced. Its finish is matte and unique depending on the compound used, and it has properties very similar to conventional PLA.
Each type of PLA eco-waste gives the material characteristic properties in terms of colour and appearance. For this reason, each manufactured product contains unique and inimitable shades, making it exclusive and unrepeatable.
Recycled PETG
PET is the most commonly used plastic in the consumer industry. Many products such as water bottles are made from this type of material. Due to this cause, an unimaginable amount of waste is generated around the world. Aware of the problem, at Ampfibius we give a second life to PET that has already been used previously, obtaining recycled PETG . The G comes from Glycol, a substance that is added to the material once it is processed, to obtain greater dimensional stability when extruding the filament once we manufacture our products.
Made-to-order production
At Ampfibius, we manufacture our products using the made to order production method.
This philosophy consists of avoiding large quantities of stock so that we can be self-sufficient and produce in a more sustainable way. The process to follow begins when the client places an order. Next, the production team receives the configuration of the purchased products and manufacturing begins on our 3D printers. Once finished, the items are assembled and finally the packaging and shipping logistics take place, always using recycled cardboard packaging.
